Coolant on my driveway

I am amazed at how my car always starts. If you look at the dirty rusty engine covered in grease and oil you would think it had gone to the big wrecking yard in the sky years ago. But without fail it starts up every time. It can be sitting for months and it will start with little trouble.

The starting isn't the problem. It's what comes after it has been running for a couple minutes. Last year it was a ruptured power steering hose. This year it was a coolant leak and of course an overheating problem. Sometimes the car gods are kind. I tightened a few bolts on the water pump. Swapped out the old thermostat and everything is leak free and cool as can be.

New Carburater?!?! Damn!

Well looks like besides the transmission and suspension I may need a new carburetor. After 4 rebuilds i guess it's time.

Ever sit down and actually write out all of the things you need to do to your car just to get it stabilized. I wouldn't recommend it. Just let the sweet sweet fog of ignorance roll over you.

With the Merc it's even worse as the value IN never equals the value OUT. Maybe i can get some government bailout money. The first thing i would do is give myself a raise for dealing with all this stuff. Next would be body, paint, trans, carb, etc.....

My car looks good in a photo. Looks great in evening light. But man up close it's a mess. I am having a paint and body guy check out the car soon to see if i can start the process going. Say goodbye to the old merc and say hello to the mildly hot-rod merc. Well...will see.
